Smoked BBQ Ribs

Smokin' Good:  Recipe for Smoked BBQ Ribs

This recipe is awesome and utilizes your outdoor smoker that doesn't get enough love.With a few simple steps and some patience, you can create something delicious. Fire up your smoker!

For the Dry Rub:

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons paprika

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice preference)

For the Ribs:

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs

  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar (for spritzing)

For the BBQ Sauce:

  • 1 cup ketchup

  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons molasses

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

BBQ Pro Tip

a. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs 


  • mix all the dry rub ingredients 

  • coat both sides of the ribs 

  • Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or,


  • :

Preheat your smoker to 225°F  


  •  Place the ribs on the smoker grate bone side down.

  • smoke the ribs for 3-4 hours, spritzing with apple cider vinegar every hour to keep them moist.


  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine all the BBQ sauce ingredients. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.


  • Brush the ribs with the BBQ sauce during the last hour of smoking, 


  • Ribs are done when the internal temperature reaches around 200°F (93°C) and the meat pulls away from the bones.


Allow the ribs to rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing. 

These I paired with Garlic Smashed potatoes and Grilled Zucchini and Squash
